Prairie Wind Players Announces

Auditions for the Prairie Wind Players’ production of Merry Christmas, George Bailey will be held on Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th at Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett. Merry Christmas, George Bailey is a condensed version of the Christmas classic, It’s a Wonderful Life performed radio-theatre style.

The original performance was a Lux Radio Theatre broadcast in the 1940s, starring many of the movie’s actors, including James Stewart and Donna Reed. A PBS version in the late 1990s sparked renewed interest in the show, which has been performed all over the country ever since. Since the play is performed as a radio drama, actors are allowed to use scripts on stage, and those that can “do” different voices may be cast in multiple roles. Because memorization and stage movement are not required, those who have never dared audition for a regular theatrical production are encouraged to consider doing so.

Because the show also requires sound effects, anyone who would like to take a stab at performing live sound effects and coordinating those that must be recorded is encouraged to show up at auditions also.

Monday night auditions will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Peace Lutheran, and Tuesday night auditions from 4:00 until 7:00. The cast will rehearse three times a week until the show hits the boards on Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd.
